Visit the State Botanical Garden of Georgia

The State Botanical Garden of Georgia is a beautiful nature sanctuary in the middle of the busy city. It has a variety of trails spanning over 300 acres that are filled with a huge variety of flowers and lush greenery.

Take a look at the exotic flowers that grow in the world’s warmest climates housed in the tropical conservatory and greenhouse. See the many thied gardens like the medicinal, heritage, and international gardens, as well as a number of native gardens that feature azaleas, wildflowers, and camellias.

Go on one of their guided tours to learn about all the fantastic plant life thriving in the gardens. There are also educational programs being offered to teach the public about gardening.

The admission to the garden is free but donations are always encouraged. The garden is open every day from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM.

Marvel at the exhibits in the Georgia Museum of Art

Spend the day viewing gorgeous artworks and fascinating exhibits at the Georgia Museum of Art. Take the whole family on the museum’s monthly family days with fun and educational gallery tours and hands-on art activities.

The museum’s permanent collection features more than 8,000 pieces. It has American paintings from the 19th to 20th centuries by Andrew Wyeth, Winslow Homer, and Georgia O’Keefe; works on paper from Europe, America, and Asia; a collection of Italian Renaissance paintings; and a growing collection of Southern decorative art, folk art, and Asian art.

After you’ve taken in the artwork and culture, head over to the museum café for snacks or go to the gift shop for some souvenirs.

The museum is open from 10 AM to 5 PM on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays and 1 to 5 PM on Sundays. There is no admission fee but donations are appreciated.

Grab a pint at Creatures Comforts Brewing Co.

Creatures Comforts Brewing Co. is for all beer enthusiasts. This brewery provides creative blends inspired by thinkers, inventors, artists, and explorers. Visit their tasting room and see the new brews they have in store alongside their signature beers.

Their beer list changes each season as they highlight different flavors and ingredients but they do have year-round beers on tap like Athena, a German-style wheat beer; Bibo®, a classic pilsner with distinct hop flavor; Tropicália®, an American IPA; and Reclaimed Rye®, a full flavored amber ale.

Their tasting room is open Tuesdays to Thursdays at 5 to 10 PM, Fridays at 3 to 10 PM, Saturdays at 1 to 10 PM, and Sundays on 1 to 6 PM. Their regular business hours are Monday to Friday at 9 AM to 5 PM.

Go to the Bear Hollow Zoo

Bear Hollow Zoo is home to a number of non-releasable animals who can no longer be sent back to their natural habitats. Here you will see opossums, black bears, bald eagles, and other native Georgian wildlife. Another prominent feature here is the Reptile House found at the center of the zoo.

Let the kids enjoy watching the various antics of some of the zoo residents like the playful otters and ducks in the pond. At the same time, they learn about animals and their natural habitats.

Bear Hollow Zoo is open every day from 9 AM to 5 PM while the Reptile House is open on Saturdays from 1 PM to 4 PM.
